Domenic Aversa

For 25 years, I have been an entrepreneur, crisis manager and corporate restructuring professional. I grew up poor. Son of Italian immigrant farmers. I worked hard. I became the first person in my family to go to law school. I then started my first business at the age of 24 in the Soviet Union. By the time I was 27, I owned a professional soccer team, a bank in Russia, a food export company and a real estate development firm. By 29, I had to walk away from all of it (or, I could have fought the mafia). I started a new career in restructuring and quickly became an expert at dealing with extreme situations. As CEO or Chief Restructuring Officer, I have managed thousands of employees and overseen billions in financial restructuring. I've also, unfortunately had to fire thousands of people and fight with every power structure in the country: unions, banks, law firms, politicians...and, of course, the mafia and random criminals. Today, most of my work is pro bono. I help smaller companies avoid bankruptcy and complete liquidation. I teach them how to fight for their lives and lives of their employees. I discuss my years of living at the extremes in the corporate and criminal world in my book "Corporate Undertaker: Business Lessons from the Dead and Dying."
